I see the large outline of a figure before my flickering eyes
and hope for a safety approaching at last. I reach out into the empty space and find myself alone again.
A cold cracked whispered voice repeats my name and I answer to no avail. Just another test of mind, just another test of strength, when will it finally be overcome? When will I be allowed to stop the holding of breath and the clenching of every muscle in my body?
I need rest; I need to see something other than the crows flying
beside me, something other than the temptation of the outlined figure in my
vision.
There has never been any other place to look except inside, and
it’s the inside that has been so damaged through all the nights past with no rest, hiding in empty wheat fields with nothing but the trees which are now naked of life.
